What's the problem?
SNES games, and many others, are a ticking time bomb. Of course, they won't explode (hopefully!) but there will come a day when you can no longer save your game. That day has come for many games.
Bear in mind that the lithium coin cell inside the game has a shelf life of 10 years. Just 10 years. Some of the batteries I remove from games are dated to expire in 1997, so they weren't exactly new when fitted either.
So we're doing pretty well out of our save game batteries. But, alas, you can only go so far before a lithium coin cell just needs changing.
